I am making this scarf as a birthday present for a friend who loves orange.
It is a chunky eight-stitch cable pattern, repeated three times and divided by a simple rib. You can decide to repeat it more times: the pattern works on any multiple of 15+3 stitches.
PATTERN
Yarn: Rowan Big Wool, Orange no. 51
Needles: 10 mm needles + 1 10 mm cable needle
Abbreviations
k: knit
p: purl
C8B: slip 4 stitches to cable needle, hold at the back of the work, k4, then k4 from cable needle
C8F: slip 4 stitches to cable needle, hold in front of work, k4, then k4 from cable needle
How to
Cast over 48 stitches.
[1] (p1, k1, p1, k12) three times, p1, k1, p1.
[2] (k1, p1, k1, p12) three times, k1, p1, k1.
[3] (p1, k1, p1, k4, C8B) three times, p1, k1, p1.
[4] (k1, p1, k1, p12) three times, k1, p1, k1.
[5] (p1, k1, p1, k12) three times, p1, k1, p1.
